Interdisciplinary demographic training and research at CDE is supported by a longstanding ethos of collaborative research across departments or colleges at UW–Madison.
CDE’s training faculty consists of a diverse and highly productive collection of population scholars from 21 different departments on campus. The training faculty’s diverse array of disciplinary backgrounds expose predoctoral students to multiple substantive areas and methodological approaches within population research.
All training faculty participate in the demography training program by offering instruction relevant to the training mission and advising, mentoring and serving on trainees’ dissertation committees.
Additionally, training faculty lead large-scale, funded research projects that support trainees as research assistants and collaborators. Training faculty members are highly productive researchers with active funding support. Check out some of their ongoing research projects here.
