Congratulations to CDE graduate student Sara Ronnkvist, who was awarded the 2024 IPUMS Global Health Student Research Award alongside Brian Thiede and Emma Barber. Their paper “Child fostering in a changing climate: evidence from sub-Saharan Africa” published in Population and the Environment in November 2023 explored the implications of climate variability for the movement of children in sub-Saharan Africa via exploring the relationship between climate exposure and in- and out-fostering children (utilizing IPUMS data).
