Jenny Higgins, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and longtime CDE affiliate, was awarded the 2024 Women’s Health Research Mentorship Award by the UW SMPH Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) and the UW BIRCWH Program.
This award recognizes outstanding mentorship that supports the career development of women scientists working in women’s health and sex/gender differences research. Dr. Higgins was selected for her deep commitment to mentorship, her inclusive approach to collaboration, and her impact on the next generation of researchers.
In addition to her faculty role, Dr. Higgins serves as Director of the Population and Reproductive Health Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of the Collaborative for Reproductive Equity (CORE). Her research focuses on abortion and contraception using mixed-methods approaches, and she regularly partners with mentees and trainees across departments and disciplines.
Dr. Higgins’ leadership has helped shape a strong, supportive research community at UW–Madison, and this award recognizes the lasting contributions she continues to make as a mentor, researcher, and advocate.
