From Dr. Yi:
“This talk will focus on providing an overview of the motivation, conceptual framework, and current planned research design for a project that aims to explore how racial/ethnic categories are produced—and in cases of discrepancies or multiple sources of information, reconciled—collection, maintenance, and analysis of administrative data on contact with the criminal legal and child welfare systems. The goal of this work is to unpack the “black box” of administrative data production and analytic decision-making to contextualize the rapid expansion of social scientific research on institutional contact and its consequences that makes use of administrative data.”
