John Eason Explains why Private Prisons are Controversial

John Eason was interviewed by “The Conversation” about his research on private prisons and why they are controversial. The United States is one of a few countries that allows private entities to own prisons.  They have recently had a role in housing undocumented immigrants and asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border.  Private prisons have become an issue in the 2020 presidential election.
